Trey and I finally had our first
Pre-Marital Counseling session this past week.
After months of struggling to work through
time conflicts and distance issues,
time conflicts and distance issues,
we were able to set up our first teleconference session.
A requirement of the church where our ceremony is being held
is to complete 8 weeks of premarital counseling.
In all honesty both of us were a little apprehensive.
We were unsure of what to expect,
and nervous concerning how comfortable we would be about
letting strangers into our relationship.
Luckily our first session went very well.
We met our counseling couple,
both middle aged
who will be celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
They immediately made us feel comfortable and assured
that this experience will be a beneficial one.
Although Trey and I have been together for over 7 years
we don't begin to think that we know it all.
And in the words of Timothy Keller:
"Marriage, being the immense thing it is, changes you."
We are excited to dive into counseling to hopefully
discover new ways to handle conflict, communicate effectively,
and most importantly to grow together spiritually.
